A PLAQUE commemorating one of South East Cornwall's most famous engineers will be unveiled this weekend. A special ceremony will be held at Liskeard railway station to honour the work of Joseph Thomas. He was an 18th century engineer who created Looe's Banjo Pier and the Coombe Junction loop, which linked Looe to the Great Western Railway main line at Liskeard. The ceremony, which will be attended by members of Liskeard and Looe's Old Cornwall Societies, will start at 11am followed by snacks and hot and cold drinks. The plaque will be unveiled by station manager Lee Edworthy after a few words have been said by Liskeard's mayor Anne Purdon.
