THE latest planning applications received by Cornwall Council include:
n A PROPOSAL to build a house on land at Churchtown Barn, St Keyne is being considered by Cornwall Council.
An application by Mr and Mrs Blackwell for permission in principle proposes building on a garden which currently accommodates an open-air swimming pool. The site was previously part of a bigger scheme for an affordable-led residential development of 21 homes which was given outline planning permission in 2017.
n A NISSAN hut in the settlement of Popes Mill, between Menheniot and Liskeard, could be demolished and replaced by a small dwelling. Wendy Woodman, who owns the property, has asked Cornwall Council for advice on her plans.
n A THREE-bedroomed 1960s detached house, which is said to be in poor condition, could be replaced by a four-bedroomed two/three-storey home with a detached garage at West Camps Bay, Downderry. Mr and Mrs Roberts have asked Cornwall Council for pre-application advice on their proposals for the house named Carinya.
n THE TAMAR Inn on the Quay at Calstock has approached Cornwall Council for pre-application advice to change the use of a two-storey store to a self-contained cottage; to extend its restaurant into the rear terrace and to extend the flat roof over the restaurant to provide guest accommodation to the first and second floors – eight rooms in all.
A statement to support the application said: “Social distancing measures imposed by COVID-19 have caused immense financial damage to an entertainment industry which relies on high number throughput for viability. Although these measures have relaxed to a certain extent recently, the prospect of resurgence will ever remain a threat. In order to recoup seating numbers lost to social distancing, it is proposed to increase visitor accommodation by extending the existing terrace area.”
n A TATTOO studio is proposed for an empty flat at 5, Wesley Lane, Saltash.
Cornwall Council has received a planning application from Nenia Gartland from Roborough, Plymouth, who purchased the property in August, to change the residential use of the flat to a tattoo studio and an office for an accountancy firm – both businesses she owns.
n A PLANNING application is being considered by Cornwall Council to change the use of land in a garden at Swallows Reach, St Veep to allow the siting of a shepherd’s hut for use as holiday accommodation – work started on the proposal in October 2019.
The applicant, Monica Watson, also wants to get planning permission for changing the use of an existing annex to provide self-contained holiday accommodation.
n BODMIN Town Council has applied to Cornwall Council to install floodlights on four eight-metre columns with lanterns at Bodmin skatepark to replace the redundant lights. They will be not be used between 10pm and 7am.
n PVM properties wants to build nine homes on land opposite Luxuylan Village Hall – three of which would be affordable two-bedroom bungalows. The remaining would be three and four-bedroom homes.
