Cornwall Council is investigating having Bodmin Moor recognised as only Britain’s fourth International Dark Sky Park.
Cornwall Council and Caradon Observatory are holding a month-long consultation on their bid to have Bodmin Moor recognised as a Gold standard International Dark Sky Park, which is comparable to World Heritage Site status. If there is public support, the Council will submit a formal bid this summer.
Looe councillor Edwina Hannaford, Cornwall Council’s planning cabinet member, said: ‘Recent observatory data shows that the quality of the night sky over Bodmin Moor is amongst the best in the world.’
Details of the bid are available on www.cornwall.gov.uk/darksky.
