At a planning committee meeting attended by 25 residents, Liskeard town councillors voted to object to the outline plan to build 14 more homes – four affordable and 10 for the open market – on land adjacent to Trevillis Park.
A number of residents from the already built affordable homes at Joan Moffatt Close, and those immediately facing the new field for development, spoke about their concerns.
Cllr Phil Seeva proposed objecting due to strong concerns over access from Joan Moffatt Close, where children play in the street.
Cllr Lorna Shrubsole voiced concern that no green area was included. Cllr Roger Holmes said access was a major factor.
Other issues raised were surface water, drainage and a proposed footpath over land believed to be private.
Councillors asked for case officer Paul Banks to make clear if the new site is being regarded as infill or a rural exception, and also to call the plan in and have it heard before Cornwall Council’s Planning East committee. It will be heard on July 25.
