Plans to build 10 generators near Trerulefoot would amount to ‘a power station on agricultural land’, says the parish council. But those behind the proposal say it is needed as ‘back-up’ for a solar farm at Bake Farm. The dual fuel generators and associated infrastructure, such as a fuel tank and switchroom, would cover an area of around 800sqm on land owned by WH Bond and Sons adjacent to the solar array.
After much discussion, St Germans Parish Council voted to object strongly to the energy generation facility. ‘Noise and pollution are a real concern,’ said a spokesperson. ‘Effectively, if this is approved we will end up with a power station on agricultural land.’ The outcome of the planning application will be decided by Cornwall Council.
