New plans for the empty Butchers Arms pub in St Ive show how the owner hopes to create a ‘family friendly place to meet, eat and shop.’
Grant Johnston, who bought the pub and adjoining land in 2014, says he wants to extend and refurbish the Grade II Listed building – and he plans to build two retail units to help fund the extensive structural work needed.
His aim is to create a ‘decent, up-to-date, family-friendly gastro pub’ with a general store alongside, free parking, and space for an entrepreneur or local business to set up shop.
Mr Johnston has teamed up with architects Fatkin Design to produce the designs for the project, which can be seen at www.stivevillage.co.uk.
Plans have also been submitted to Cornwall Council and can be viewed on the council’s planning website using the reference PA16/07605.
