OUTLINE plans for 18 new houses on the edge of a moorland village have gone before Cornwall Council.

The scheme on land next to Hendra Close in Darite would see nine affordable homes and nine open market homes built in a field just to the north west of existing housing built around 10 years ago.

The scheme is described as a high quality project which would enhance the village and help to meet local housing need: there are currently 40 people needing affordable housing in St Cleer parish, states the application.

Although the site sits outside of the historic development boundary, it has been designated a Rural Exception Site and meets the tests as being suitable for residential development, says the agent, Studiojb Architectural Services.
