PLANS to knock down a waterfront hotel and build a restaurant and apartments in its place are being rekindled more than two years after they were withdrawn.
The Cawsand Bay Hotel has been empty for more than three years. In 2015, owner Chris Parsonage came in for strong criticism over his project to create new residential units and a covered car park. At the time, the parish council said that the proposed new building would be too big and out of character with the surrounds, and there were also objections from the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty unit and Historic England. A petition against the plans was signed by more than 370 residents.

Now, Mr Parsonage is seeking pre-planning application advice from Cornwall Council over a new version of the scheme. No details of the project have been published publicly, but the plans would feature nine residential units including self-contained holiday flats, a 40-50 cover restaurant, a manager’s flat, and a covered car park with 15 spaces.
