A new development of 14 homes could be built in a South East Cornwall village.
Outline plans have gone before Cornwall Council for the scheme at Mera Park Farm, which is just off the Tideford Road in Landrake.
Agent LAH Design says that the farmer is soon to retire. He is keen to end farming activity so close to the village, says the agent, and furthermore, the farm buildings are old and would require significant investment, without which the dairy farm activity is unsustainable.
Access to the site would be via the existing farm entrance. Views from the A38 and the Tideford Road to the Landrake Conservation Area would be maintained, states the application, with no housing to be placed in front of this area. All trees and hedgerows surrounding the site are to be protected and enhanced.
The applicant also intends to provide 10 community parking spaces close to the entrance to the site, so as to reduce the street parking in Landrake.
