All those interested in the development of a cycle trail linking Liskeard and Looe will be able to attend consultation events in both towns this month.
With a feasibility study now funded and under way, the steering group, led by the Looe Development Trust, is keen to hear people’s views and ideas on the project.
The vision is to create a new cycling and walking trail linking Liskeard, Looe and Bodmin, centred on the East and West Looe Valleys.
It is thought that not only would it be an excellent amenity for the local population, but that it would also attract many visitors, bringing jobs and opportunities.
The East Looe phase would offer a cycle ride down through the Looe Valley from Liskeard, broadly following the river, the old canal bed and railway line, with the opportunity to come back on the train if wished.
The West Looe section between Looe and Lanhydrock would offer the prospect of a coast-to-coast ride by linking up with the Camel Trail.
Funding for a West Looe feasibility study is still being sought.
The Liskeard consultation takes place at Eliot House Hotel on Thursday, November 17, from 4.30pm-7.30pm.
At Looe the consultation will be at the Community Academy at the Barbican on Monday, November 21, from 5pm-7.30pm.
