AN EXTENSION to a holiday park near Looe can go ahead, says Cornwall Council.

Tregoad Caravan and Camping site owner Peter Hannay has been given permission to build 80 new holiday lodges.

The construction of new internal roads and car parking, and landscaping of the existing and extended park are also part of the project.

The parish council of St Martin-by-Looe had voted to support the application, but concerns were raised that the new lodges should only ever be used for holidays, and not for permanent residential use. The possibility of the remains of a Roman settlement being located in the area of Tregoad had also been raised, and the parish council had suggested that an archaeological survey be carried out.

The local authority’s approval of the plans is subject to a ‘holiday accommodation only’ condition, and a condition has also been imposed stating that surface water management plans must be approved by the Council before any building work begins.
