TORPOINT’S Police Station will be knocked down to make way for two apartment blocks – but a new, smaller community police station will be created within the flats.

Plans put forward by Devon and Cornwall Constabulary have been given the go ahead by Cornwall Council.

The scheme will involve the demolition of the existing building on Ferry Street, and the construction of one two storey, and one three-storey building, with ten apartments altogether.

The new police station will be located on the ground floor of the three-storey building, with a residential flat on the other side of the corridor.

The two- and three-bedroom flats will be for sale on the open market.
