A motor parts shop and store in Liskeard could be converted into flats if plans submitted to Cornwall Council are approved.
The Taylors Motors building on Barn Street is a large property once thought to have been a chapel.
A proposal submitted by owner Robert Libby would see the building converted into seven flats.
An adjoining workshop at the rear of the building would be demolished to create parking for the flats.
In addition, two rows of three terraced houses would be built on land between Barn Street and Heathlands Road.
The Taylors Motors site is around an acre in size in total.
The intention is to keep the motor repair and MOT business in exactly the same place but move the current shop into part of the workshop area.
The scheme would represent the opportunity to re-use and enhance brownfield land on the edge of the town centre, says the applicant’s agent. Two of the flats within the development would be for affordable rent, and one of the houses would be offered for shared ownership.
