A Looe holiday park could be extended with 80 new lodges if plans are given the green light by Cornwall Council.

Tregoad Caravan and Camping Site, between Widegates and Looe, takes up to 190 touring caravans and has 50 tent pitches.

Owner Peter Hannay wishes to use three fields to the west and south to build 80 lodge-style caravans and parking spaces.

He says the new holiday accommodation would create at least four full-time and four part-time jobs at Tregoad Park, as well as increasing footfall to local shops, pubs and restaurants.

He aims to re-landscape the whole of the site to reduce its visual impact. Conifer belts planted to screen caravans will be removed and replaced with local species.

The new caravans themselves will be clad in a timber-like material and a muted colour palette used.

Speaking on behalf of the owner, agent Whitehead Planning said the aim was to provide a sustainable addition to the existing business, while having as little impact as possible on the area’s character and appearance.
