In Liskeard on Saturday, February 25, the Celtic punk rock band Pirate Copy roll into town to headline at a special charity event at The Cornish Ivy.

The Cornwall-based charity Macmillan In The Mix (MITM) is hosting an event in Liskeard for the first time – a Pirate Party.

As the members of the band, from Portreath and Penzance, perform in full pirate gear, the organisers are hoping most party-goers will go along dressed for the occasion in fancy dress.

St Austell Brewery has stepped forward to donate fancy dress prizes in the form of mini kegs of ale for the best Jack Sparrow lookalike and the best pirate, along with something sparkly and fizzy for the best pirate wench.

Also on the bill are two popular Liskeard bands. They are Raikes, who have already played at a number of MITM events, and have two BBC Introducing stages, a number of festivals, London appearances, and an EP under their belts, with the second due out soon.

They have invited Young Oliver and Young, whose cover sets are renowned for packing in local crowds.

There are more guests and Liskeard’s own popular DJ and regular at The Ivy, Chris Yung.

There will be a large number of raffle prizes, including a ‘Pirate Chest’, all donated by local businesses.

Tickets are available at £5 from The Cornish Ivy and the Liskeard Tourist Information Centre at the museum.
