Staff based at the Royal Navy Submarine School (RNSMS) within HMS Raleigh have presented the Royal British Legion with more than £600 from the sale of specially-commissioned pins.
The pins depict the well-recognised red poppy, together with a set of dolphins, the coveted emblem of the Submarine Service.
They were originally commissioned by the Northern Ireland branch of the Submariners Association and have been on sale within the RNSMS.
Proceeds from the sale were presented to Steve Lewis, Royal British Legion county vice chairman of Cornwall, following the school's annual Remembrance Service.
Warrant Officer Jeff Hurst said: 'Petty Officer Gary Aitken and I sold 300 poppy pins in total.
Double
'In hindsight we could have easily sold double the amount due to the great level of interest that was shown.
'We'd like to thank everyone for their support for this very worthy cause.'
Steve, who is also chairman of the Torpoint and District branch of the Royal British Legion, said: 'On behalf of the branch I'd like to pass on our thanks to the Royal Navy Submarine School for this generous donation.
'This is just another example of HMS Raleigh's support to the Royal British Legion and our branch in particular.'
Staff, trainees and other submariners based at HMS Raleigh joined together with members of the Submariners Association for the Service of Remembrance, conducted by the Rev Ernie Grimshaw, Royal Navy chaplain.
As part of the service wreaths were laid at the statue of the unknown submariner, located outside the school.
