Pensilva PFC raced from Yeovil again this week. The 14 members' 116 birds were liberated at 11:30, with no wind being given at Yeovil, but this changed to North-West en route. The birds made slow work of the journey home.

Taking first and second places was D W Renfree of Quethiock, with flying times of 2:19:13 and 2:25:53, giving velocities of 1054.853 and 1006.661. Third place went to G Snowdon and Son of Liskeard on 940.624, with a flying time of 2:44:03.

D W Renfree won first and second 5p and 10p pools and the single and tow-bird noms. Next week's race is from Salisbury.

For the second week running, Blandford was the venue for the Saltash Pigeon Club's race last weekend.

The birds were released at 07.00 on Sunday with no wind to contend with, which resulted in a slower race than anticipated. It would appear that the leading birds must have clashed with some other liberation, as most members commented that the birds they have time in the last three races were either missing or well behind. Winning the race, Tony Pollard and Son covered the 98-mile race in 2:39:23, recording an average velocity of 1085.230 yards per minute, over 36 mph. Eight members sent 127 birds to the race. Some members have had good returns, some less than 50%.
