A number of exceptional entries for the Saltash May Fair Photographic Competition left judges from Saltash Camera Club with some difficult decisions this month. Local snappers were asked to focus on images that showed Saltash and the P12 postcode area at its best, with the possibility of entries also being used to promote the area in literature or on the internet. Differing shots of the road and rail bridges proved to be popular, and among them was a magnificent night scene by Alex Law. This is one of the 12 entries to be used on a calendar for 2009, and another nine by other photographers have also been selected, with Ben Nicholson having two of his three entries chosen. Kevin Proctor, of the Saltash May Fair Committee, said: 'The high number of entries was very encouraging and we hope to make the competition a regular part of the May Fair.' A collection of all of the images is to be presented to the Saltash Heritage Museum as snapshots of the area during 2007 and 2008. Details of the chosen pictures are on the May Fair website at: http://www.saltashmayfair.co.uk">www.saltashmayfair.co.uk.
