Pensilva Summer Skittles league - No change at the top
The top two teams both scored maximum victories and, with five games to go, must feel quite satisfied with their positions, but with six points at stake in those last five games, maybe some of team of four could cause upsets.
The leaders, Bodmin Landers, had a quite comfortable 6-0 win over the Quarriers, being 14 pins up at the half-way stage and adding a further 16 pins in the final four legs to show a 30 pin overall win.
The Tigers held a 16 pin advantage after their four legs in their match against the Golden Girls, but the scoreline was a lot closer in the remaining four legs, with Sylvia's 16 pin spree meaning they came within two pins of receiving some much-needed points. However, it wasn't to be, as the Tigers were able to add six further points to their total, which means they stay within challenging distance of the top spot.
Third placed Gremlins looked the stronger team when they met the Potholers, as at half-time they held a 15 pin lead. However, the Potholers improved dramatically to rescue two points, failing by just eight pins to add four points to their total. Gremlins were winners by 4-2.
The Rascals were yet again unlucky when they took on the Galaxy Four, who were in control throughout the eight legs to come away with an overall advantage of 39 pins and six useful points, as well as a fourth-placed spot in the table.
The tussle between Hillsecs and Middlers was a close game where, after four legs, the Middlers held a 117-108 pins lead. The second period saw a marked improvement in the standard of play by both teams, with Hillsecs reducing the nine pin lead which their opponents held to just three pins, resulting in a 4-2 Middlers win.
The sixth game of the night saw the postponed match from the previous week where the Potholers met the Golden Girls, who deserve a bit more luck. However, this was not the game where they would get it, as they went down 6-0 as the Potholers gained a 50 pin lead after eight legs of skittles.
The top men's score this week belonged to Ken Jeffery of the Bodmin Landers, who managed to knock over 88 pins. He was followed by Ken Couchman by 78 pins. Top ladies were Lynda Jeffery (Bodmin Landers) with 67 pins and Sylvia Warren (Golden Girls) with 66 pins.
