Penn Cornwall Tennis League - Liskeard win the Division Two title

In the Mens Premier Division, a 9-3 victory by Penzance A has almost extinguished any fear of relegation whilst their opponents, Bude A, cannot now escape that fate.

The 9-2 win by Liskeard A over St Austell A has all but assured that St Austell will join Bude in the drop.

In Division One, Truro B placed themselves in a good position to snatch the second promotion spot from Sunnybanks B although Veryan A are still in with a similar chance after their demolition of Penzance B in a one-sided 10-0 victory.

Bodmin A gained just one point in the Truro match and now remain the only Mens team without a win this season.

In a later match, Veryan visited Wadebridge A and came away with another 10 points with Cordon Simpson and Neil Adams not dropping a set.

With their 10-3 win over St Austell B, Liskeard B have now made certain of the Division Two East title although three of the ties went to three sets in a closely contested match. Wadebridge B climb back to second position in this Division after a close 7-4 win over Launceston whose Graham Worth/Paul Stanbury partnership were unbeaten.

Relegated Looe were well beaten by Bodmin B but then gained their first victory of the season with an excellent 8-3 win at Truro D. Daniel McGreal and Oliver Cobb achieved a fine double for the winners.

In the Ladies Premier Division Bude A gained an easy 10-1 win over a weakened St Austell A team who now find themselves in a close battle with Bodmin to avoid the second relegation position. In Division 1 East, Newquay fought valiantly in an effort to gain their first win of the season, but Bude D just held on for a close 7-4 margin.

Activity in Division Two East has confirmed the title and promotion for St Austell D despite their 3-9 defeat by Wadebridge B who are now likely to finish runners-up that is unless Launceston gain a maximum win in their final match.

Launceston lost their outside chance of the title with their 4-7 reverse against the much-improved Looe team, although they went on to victory over bottom team Liskeard with the Jenny Worth/Ali Parnell pairing dropping only four games in their two ties.
