Cornwall Cup
Quarter-Final
Saltash Utd 6
Dobwalls 0
With Kimberley Stadium not fit for play, this Cornwall Cup tie was switched to Dobwalls.
On a good playing surface both sides struggled with
the biting wind for the first 15 minutes.
However, once the game settled down Dobwalls proved to be stubborn opponents – and could quite easily taken the lead, but for a good stop from Ashes' Dan Bradford.
The opening goal came midway through the first half when, following a corner, a goalmouth scramble ensued before Stacey Arthur shot home from close range.
This goal settled Saltash down, and a few minutes later they added a second when Coral Smith superbly brought the ball under control from a Suzzi Porter free-kick and fired in from the edge of the box.
Ten minutes later it was 3-0 when Emma Pemberton headed home a Sam Drewery corner.
It was Pemberton's persistence down the Ashes' right wing that led to Smith adding her second five minutes before the break.
Another Drewery corner led to goal No.5 after her initial effort was cleared back out to her; the second cross found Pemberton unmarked for a free header.
With the game safe, Saltash eased off, but that didn't stop Dobwalls from testing Bradford.
Pemberton completed the scoring with her third of the game after being released by Drewery ten minutes from time.
