High summer, and Cornwall Wildlife Trust’s Open Gardens scheme continues to attract crowds of local people and visitors, with a beautiful garden set in a quiet valley with countryside views the next to open.
Higher Trenedden at Peakswater, near Pelynt, opens for the Trust on Sunday, July 24 from 2pm to 5pm, and there is plenty to explore. The owners are particularly keen on attracting wildlife to their garden which offers lots of ideas has to how visitors can do so in their own.
The garden includes an established cottage garden, an arboretum which was planted in 2006, with specimen trees, a meadow with a large pond, and a boardwalk through marshland with an abundance of wildflowers and wildlife.
Suitable for families, although due to the nature of the garden disabled access is limited, and sorry, due to the wildlife – no dogs at this event. Admission is £4 per adult, with under 16s free. Pasties and cream teas by Crantocks Bakery and Roddas will be available.
This is the sixth year running that the Trust has run their highly successful Open Gardens scheme, which is sponsored by stayincornwall.co.uk
