At eleven o'clock on Thursday 11th November 1999, Caradon staff will pause and remember those who gave their lives in two world wars and in more than seventy other conflicts so that we can enjoy peace and freedom

. Our staff are being advised and public notices displayed accordingly, but participation will be for individuals to decide as a matter of personal conscience.

Caradon's support for the Royal British Legions call for observance of the Two Minute Silence will also extend to helping members of the public take the opportunity of sharing a moment of reflection by signalling the start and end of the Silence locally. We shall do this by firing two maroons in Castle Park, Liskeard - one at 11.00am and one at 11.02am.

May I take the opportunity through these columns to encourage all in our community to give generously once again to ensure a successful Poppy Day appeal in our district at this time of Remembrance.

COUNCILLOR T.G. SMALE
