THE recent introduction of the Response Bus service in the Saltash area has been met with praise from passengers who had had many of their existing public transport links severed. Following the withdrawal of a number of key bus services taking passengers into town from the more isolated areas of Saltash - including the Forder and Waterside regions - the Response Bus service has provided some much-needed relief for residents without the use of a car. The service, run as part of the Lisk-Link group, provides transport all over Saltash and further afield, incorporating most of South East Cornwall, and part of North Cornwall, up to Launceston. A return journey is available upon request. Baz Gregory, Caradon District Councillor with responsibilities for transport, said: 'I am pleased to report that demand for the Response bus service is proving to be a great asset and service for those who have found themselves without a service whatsoever. 'Passengers have paid tribute to the responsibility and courtesy when ordering the bus. One can only remember the phrase "using it or losing it."' The bus always strives to stop as close as possible to the stop, be it a communal bus stop or a residents house. One hours notification must be given prior to the desired travel time. The response bus call centre can be contacted Monday - Friday between 7am and 7pm on 08456 017 375.
