I would like to express my thanks and give an update of the situation to the many hundreds of people in Looe and throughout Devon and Cornwall who have given me such great support over the matter of this ridiculous £40 parking ticket issued to me by Caradon District Council whilst I was repairing a vandalised flower box belonging to Looe In Bloom.

I have now received from Caradon Council a claim for £87.50 via Bodmin County Court, which would seem to confirm the Caradon spokespersons comment quoted in the press that they are 'Not going to let Mr Perriment off'.

It would seem that Caradon Council intend to use ratepayers' money and the British Justice system to try to endorse their unreasonable behaviour.

Councillor Chadwick should inform himself of the true facts before talking about obstruction and indiscriminate parking.

It is ironic that at the subsequent meeting of Caradon Council's Environmental Services Committee they voted to provide Looe In Bloom with two parking permits, giving access to their car parks to enable Looe In Bloom helpers to do exactly the sort of task that I was doing on June 19th last year.

Yet my wife and I have been subjected to a stream of letters over the last seven months because we take a pride in our town.

It would seem that there is no one in Caradon, officers or councillors with the integrity or stature to bring this farce to an end in a friendly manner.

Meanwhile at Caradon Councils insistence the dispute rolls on.

ROY PERRIMENT

Looe.
