Janette Armstrong has presented to Saltash Heritage a painting by her father, the late Alan Armstrong, of the building of the Tamar Bridge in 1961. Alan, who died recently aged 84, was a senior member of staff at the former Saltash Comprehensive School, together with his late wife Dorothy. He was known as a keen sportsman of some repute and an artist of significant local merit. Receiving the painting on behalf of Saltash Heritage were David Kent, curator, and Bob Munro, chairman, who were among Alan’s colleagues at the school. David said: ‘Saltash Heritage is extremely grateful to Alan and Janette for their most generous donation of the painting, plus other items of town interest which will be an excellent addition to our collection.’
