VOLUNTEERS are needed to help locate and monitor tawny owls in the Tamar Valley this autumn.
An event next Wednesday (September 9) will be the chance to find out more about this rarely seen, yet common British owl, and how to get involved with the survey.
‘In 2005 a community survey method was put together to compare owl numbers in different areas and habitats. We now want to update our records and need people’s help,’ said a spokesperson for the Tamar Valley Helping Hands for Heritage team, which is organising the survey.
‘No specialist equipment is needed. All you need to do is keep your ears open and listen for the hoots!’
An Owl Workshop at Cotehele on Wednesday will be the chance to find out more. The event will include a presentation on barn and tawny owls, and a dusk walk.To book a place, email:[email protected] or call 01822 835030.
