Pelynt has a new pin-up in the shape of 18-year-old Graham Rickard. He awoke on Sunday morning to find that overnight he had become one of the country's top 10 hunkiest teenagers.
The culprits for bringing him such fame are none other than his proud grandparents, Eleanor and Mike Stone of Kilminorth Cottages, who sent a picture of him to national paper The Sunday People who had asked readers for their votes.
Eleanor said they wanted recognition for Graham, not just because of his good looks but because they say he is a lovely young man with time for people of all ages.
'He is a gentleman,' she told the paper. The couple say he is also an excellent artist. At present he is an art student at Bodmin Community College, and he is good at drama which he much enjoys, having recently starred as an ugly sister alongside his mum in the Pelynt Players panto, Cinderella.
Graham's parents, Gary and Veronica Rickard, owners of the popular Jubilee Inn at Pelynt, were the first to give him the good news.
'They burst into my bedroom with the paper but I thought they were having a joke' he says.
'On the front page was David Beckham, who some people say I look like (before the famous haircut) and I thought that was what they meant.'
Unluckily for the young ladies, Graham already has a Dutch girlfriend, Michelle, who he met four years ago when she was a holidaymaker at the Treble B Camp which the family then owned.
Although they are in different countries they regularly contact and visit one another.
'She is over the moon with it all but a bit jealous in case the girls start swooning over me' he laughs.
After college Graham is hoping to take a year out in Holland, but since his success his interest in becoming a model has come back again.
Michelle has also put his photograph into an agency in Amsterdam.
Meanwhile, Graham is enjoying the leg pulling and congratulations, and still enjoys being a part time waiter at the Jubilee's restaurant.
