A fun day at the Lux Park Leisure Centre in Liskeard on January 8 raised over £500 for the Asian Tsunami appeal. The event was originally planned to celebrate the re-opening of the centre's pool after a major refurbishment with donations going to Pirate FM's local charity the Pirate Trust. However following news of the Indian Ocean disaster, with the agreement of Pirate FM, staff decided to invite visitors to make donations to be used in the countries involved. Michele Baker-Caton, Caradon District Council's leisure services manager said: 'We'd like to thank members of the public who gave so generously to the appeal. 'Every penny counts in a situation like this.'
