VILLAGERS in Golant near Fowey have lost over £500 worth of goods which were due to have been delivered by Evri.
In the last few weeks up to 20 parcels have been reported ‘missing’ in the hamlet which has around 100 homes. Some, Evri claim, have been delivered with photographs not relating to the delivery address and others have been lost in the system. Frustrated customers say they have tried without success to speak to Evri on the phone and find themselves in computer chats which “just go around in circles”.
Missing goods include antiques and clothes – one villager has been left without an outfit for this weekend’s carnival and another without a dress for a wedding.
One of the victims is Fayre Hardy, who said: “We used to get an excellent service from this company with their regular driver but unfortunately, she left and it has been complete chaos since.
“My order for clothes worth £300 is still missing. One villager was told they were getting a refund, but Evri informed the supplier the parcel had been delivered, so the refund was claimed back.
“So many people are out of pocket. Just where are these missing goods – have they been thrown in hedges, are they in a depot or has someone stolen them?”
Evri responded by admitting their recent service issues ‘have fallen below the standards we aim to provide’. But they challenged the number of parcels affected.
A spokesperson for Evri said: “Evri handles more than one-billion parcels each year and has been independently recognised for achieving the highest on-time delivery rates in the industry.
“We are sorry that a small number of customers in the area have experienced issues with their deliveries.
“We have now put a local support solution in place with a courier who is familiar with the area. We will continue to closely monitor performance while we recruit a permanent community courier for the round.”
