An all-female theatre company co-founded by two young women from South East Cornwall is breaking taboos on tour.
After stints with the National Youth Theatre (NYT) last summer, Olivia Early and Larissa Pinkham became part of Wonderbox with fellow NYT members.
The company’s debut production ‘A Womb of One’s Own’ explores the themes of newly-found independence, less-than-perfect sexual encounters and unwanted pregnancy.
At times irreverent and laugh out loud funny, the show uses comedy to open-up a much-needed conversation, says Olivia: one in three women will have an abortion at some point in their lives.

Devon and Cornwall issued with multiple snow and ice warningsHaving played to sell-out audiences in London and Birmingham, the company will be performing at The People’s Republic of Stokes Croft in Bristol on Saturday (July 15).
Olivia and Larissa hope to bring the play to venues in Plymouth and Cornwall in the near future.
Olivia, 22, who is working on the production side of the show, has designed the lighting and set. She said: ‘It’s amazing to have the freedom to create the kind of work that matters to us.’
Larissa, 19, said: ‘A year ago none of us had met each other and the idea to create a company only came up eight months ago.
‘Now we have performances booked all over the UK, with a brilliant political new show, and it all started with zero money. I am inspired by what just getting on and doing it can really produce.’
