A NEW alternative learning provision that was launched in Tideford earlier this year is holding a special open day for families to learn more about their work.

The Learning Paddocks will be opening their gates on Saturday, August 15 to the local community, giving families, youngsters, schools and professionals the opportunity to learn about what specialist outdoor learning and enrichment provision can offer.

The open day is intended to give those who may be curious or tentative a relaxed opportunity to visit, ask questions and experience the environment for themselves.

The event will run across two separate sessions from 10am to noon and 1pm to 3pm. The timed sessions have been introduced to keep visitor numbers manageable and ensure that the yard remains calm and welcoming throughout the day.

Visitors will be able to meet some animals, explore the yard and sensory garden, see projects created and grown by learners, take part in games, activities and workshops, as well as enjoy some food and drinks.

The Learning Paddocks team will also be available to speak with families and professionals who may be interested in the enrichment sessions or specialist provision for young people aged 5 to 25. Places for each session will be limited, so advance booking is required.

Lead by CEO and founder Archie Hill, The Learning Paddocks has been created to support children and young people who may struggle to thrive within traditional educational settings and those who require a more personalised approach to learning.

The provision focuses on helping young people rebuild confidence, wellbeing, independence and engagement through outdoor learning, animal and equine care, horticulture, practical life skills and preparation for adulthood pathways.
