The head of the Royal Navy, Admiral Sir Philip Jones has visited HMS Raleigh.

The First Sea Lord was visiting as guest of honour at the latest passing out parade.

The parade marked the successful completion of initial naval training for recruits at the training base in South East Cornwall.

Admiral Sir Philip Jones said: ‘Days like today make me extremely proud, and it was great to welcome Cornwell 33 to the Royal Navy.

‘It is fabulous to see so many friends and families here to celebrate with them, who themselves are now part of the wider naval family.’

The First Sea Lord spent the day at HMS Raleigh. In addition to inspecting the parade he also presented prizes to the top trainees as well as medals to members of HMS Raleigh’s Ship’s Company.

He was updated on the training provided at the base and toured the establishment to see for himself some of the activity taking part.
