Visitors to a National Trust property can experience the sights and smells of a real Victorian Christmas at a stately home.

At Lanhydrock, staff in costume will greet guests in the outer hall by a blazing fire, and visitors can lend a hand to the cook and kitchen maids as they prepare festive foods and decorations.

The dining room will be set for dinner in high-Victorian style - and those who visit the house can discover what was on the Christmas dinner menu as well as who was invited more than 100 years ago.

Children can help Mrs Candy the Lanhydrock cook find all the ingredients for her feast during a foodie-themed garden trail. There will be storytelling sessions every day from December 8-16 and 21-24, and visits from Father Christmas.
