Do any of your local companies or councils deserve recognition for their environmental endeavours?

They could win one of our national Green Apple Environment Awards - and possibly a trip to America.

The Green Apple Awards are in their seventh year, organised by The Green Organisation and the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health.

The aim of the awards is to reward the environmental efforts of any company or council, regardless of size and resources.

If they are doing anything on the environmental front that they are proud of, we want to hear from them. Every entry is judged on its own merits.

There is no entry fee and no special criteria. Entry could not be simpler. Anyone interested in taking part should first of all telephone The Green Organisation on 01604 810507 to register their interest.

They will then be asked to outline their strongest case for an award on no more than three sides of A4 and that's all there is to it. The submission can be accompanied by any literature or material that supports the case, and judges will meet in the spring to choose the winners.

Trophy winners will be given free tickets for the gala presentation luncheon in London and at that event they will discover if they have also won the top prize of a trip for two to Minnesota, flying with Icelandair.

Every company and council taking part will benefit from positive publicity for their environmental endeavours and we are looking for winners from every region.
