There was a musical meeting in the middle of the Tamar Bridge when the ‘Beacon of Harmony Scroll’ was handed from Devon, by Kay Cady, chairman of the Teignmouth Chordettes, to Cornwall and was received by Gill Phillips, chairman of Brunel Harmony, Saltash.

The scroll is travelling to 50 chorus groups in the UK in celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Ladies Association of British Barbershop Singers, and began its journey in October last year.

Each chorus will retain the scroll for a week and two members will sign it.

Saltash will take the scroll to Bristol and it will eventually end up in Harrogate, Yorkshire, for the annual British Barbershop Singers’ convention and competition.

Both groups sang together on the bridge.
