ENSEMBLE Solaire from the Royal College of Music have been chosen from more than 750 students as this year’s winners of the Boconnoc Music Award.

They will be in residence on the estate for a week in July, performing concerts in Boconnoc House on Tuesday, July 18 and in Boconnoc Church on Thursday, July 20.

Previous winners of the award have gone on to do a wide range of work from project managing the Michael Kamen Music Collection to playing with the Birmingham Royal Ballet and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. 

Ensemble Solaire is a collection of young players formed in 2017 at the Royal College of Music made up of Renate Sokolovska (flute), Polly Bartlett (oboe), Elliot Gresty (clarinet), Matthew Horn (french horn) and Justin Sun (bassoon).

The ensemble has performed in Cadogan Hall and at the Victoria and Albert Museum, and has been working closely with Olivier Stankiewicz, principal oboe of the London Symphony Orchestra.
