Timberdown Riding School at Lidwell near Callington is featuring all this week on a Carlton Television programme called 'Birthday People', being shown every day at 3.20pm until tomorrow (Saturday).
Presenter Tim Scholfield is filmed meeting owner Alan Dourof and Molly, a shire cross piebald horse who features in every show.
Molly is very good natured," explains Alan. "ideal for beginners and, at 23 years old, 70 in horse years, she requires lots of TLC."
Tim is shown how to groom and care for Molly and explains the function of the bridle. "Brakes and steering all in one." she said.
In other episodes Tim is shown how to ride, with Timberdown's Yard Manager, Natalie Bowden. Natalie explaining how to mount a horse correctly and ensures that Tim is holding the reins properly. Tim then reads the day's birthday cards from horse back while Natalie leads molly up to the school ready for his lesson.
Today, Friday, Tim is seen having a riding lesson by Timberdown's instructor Gaby Cannon. She explains the basic riding procedures and Tim is a natural in the saddle. So good in fact, that Saturday's programme shows Tim riding home solo.
