Two members of Saltash Live Wire Youth Club were presented with the Princess Diana Award for their outstanding contributions to the local community. Sally Renfree and Richard Williamson, both aged 16, and pupils at Saltash.net Community School, set up a Friday night music project for young people at Botus Fleming church hall. The project, which has been running for more than a year, is supported by Live Wire and funded through the Our Money, Your Dream initiative. The Princess Diana award recognises and celebrates the outstanding qualities and contributions made by many young people in their communities, and is awarded to those nominated for youth participation, volunteering or selfless service to others. Andy Rance, youth work co-ordinator at Live Wire, who presented the awards in front of a crowded hall of young people at Live Wire recently, said: 'We are really proud of Sally and Richard's efforts and their commitment. They deserve the recognition and exemplify the spirit of youth work that is done in and through Live Wire.'
