Thousands of pounds were raised at a charity party in memory of a brave mother-of-two who died from cancer on her 40th birthday. Friends of Sarah Hinks held a fundraising evening 'Celebrating Sarah' in her memory at Seaton Beach Cafe on Sunday after her shock death following her second battle with the disease.
Sarah had been planning to hold a fundraising event this summer in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support after raising more than £3,500 with her friend Wendy Tonks at a charity event last year. The friends were diagnosed with different cancers within a year of each other and underwent surgery along with radiotherapy and chemotherapy.
Sarah's death in April came as a massive blow to the Seaton community where she lived with her partner Colin Meddelton and her children Victoria, 16, and 11-year-old Daniel.
'Celebrating Sarah' was a huge success with plenty of local musical acts and an auction with prizes donated from local people and business.
