Saltash Handicapped and Disabled Organisation members had a Christmas lunch in December when the Mayor, Councillor Sue Hooper and her Consort, husband John, attended. She presented a cheque for £200 to SHADO from the Mayor's Charity fund, which the committee decided will buy a new microwave and a wall cupboard, and several utensils. Wednesday afternoon speakers have included Mrs Mary Scheaff who stepped in at short notice and spoke about fair trade goods and encouraged people to buy goods as it would help people in the third world. Two stores in Saltash sold Fair Trade goods, she said. Marie Flurher , one of the members gave an amusing talk about her Christmas holiday in Austria. She said that even though there was snow public transport of trains, buses, coaches plus other traffic all moved on the roads. There were brighter lights on Christmas trees in the gardens of houses. Pam Lewis visited the Club and with her group helped everyone to do exercises to music. Anyone is welcome to join SHADO Wednesday afternoons 2-4pm. Information phone 843395 or 518270.
