Joining the queue at the Guildhall in East Looe next week, when the National Blood Service makes one of its regular calls will be the mayoress, Mrs Annette Bryan.
This will be the first time the mayoress has given blood and she says she hopes her decision to take the plunge will encourage others to support this important service which anyone of us could need at some point.
The NHS needs in the region of 10,000 donations of blood per day in the UK and with only six per cent of the eligible population regularly donating it is extremely important that new donors are constantly recruited to ensure these demands are met. Anyone between the ages of 17 and 60 and in general good health could become a new donor. The service will be in Looe on Monday and Tuesday next week, Jan 17/18. Anyone requiring more information should contact 0345 711 711.
