National maritime charity, the Shipwrecked Mariners’ Society, is calling on photographers to submit images celebrating Britain’s maritime heritage, for its annual competition searching for the UK’s ultimate sea view.

Launched to mark national Seafarers Awareness Week (June 24 to 30), the competition, sponsored by Inmarsat, encourages amateur and professional photographers to enter pictures which best encapsulate Britain’s enduring connection with the sea - its merchant ships, fishermen, coast, harbours and ports.

Photographs should be submitted through the Society’s website www.shipwreckedmariners.org.uk before the deadline on August 4.

One of last year’s winners, of Widemouth Bay by Trevor Shelley, is pictured.
