A 37-year-old Liskeard slaughterman has been remanded in custody by magistrates in Bodmin to face trial on firearms offences including the theft of a revolver from his employer.

Keith England, of Bodgara Way, Liskeard, is charged with the theft of a Smith and Wesson .38 revolver from Peake (GB) Ltd at Liskeard on August 9, possessing a firearm with the means to endanger life and possession of ammunition with the means to endanger life. No pleas were entered when he appeared in custody before the court in Bodmin on Wednesday and the bench ruled that in view of the seriousness of the allegations the case should be heard at the Crown Court in Truro on August 24. England was remanded in custody pending the hearing.

Police were called to an address in Bodgara Way, in Liskeard at about 3.30am on Monday following reports that shots had been fired.
