LISKEARD folk are being encouraged to make a song and a dance – in Cornish – as the town prepares for its own Christmas festival.

Nadelik yn Lyskerrys will be staged to coincide with Liskeard’s popular lantern parade at the start of December.

All the activities planned are themed around the Cornish language, with the emphasis on absolute beginners being able to learn a few phrases and have fun.

Simple language and carol singing workshops continue on Tuesday evenings (7-9pm) throughout November.

Meanwhile, Cornish Guise dance workshops with live music are taking place at the Public Hall on Saturday mornings (10am – 12.30pm).

The aim is to have as many people as possible in masks and costume and dancing at the Nadelik yn Lyskerrys feast night, set to take place after the lantern parade.

Lantern making workshops at the Liskerrett Centre will run each Saturday through November from 9am – 12noon.

Participants of all ages are invited to come along (under eights with an adult) and make a small lantern on a Cornish theme to carry at the Liskeard Lights Up parade.
