Cornish beaches are at risk if EU standards which guarantee clean bathing water and protect our natural environment are weakened or abandoned after Brexit, warn environmental campaigners.
Friends of the Earth says the UK continued to pump gallons of untreated effluent into seaside areas every year right up until EU pressure bought the practice to an end in 1998.
Friends of the Earth is asking parliamentary candidates across Cornwall to commit to retaining the EU Bathing Water Directive.
