JUNIOR Ratings at HMS Raleigh have moved into new en-suite accommodation as part of an initiative to upgrade facilities for Service personnel who live within the establishment. Until now the junior Ratings, who are members of HMS Raleigh's Ship's Company, have lived four to a room. The new hotel-style accommodation comprises of 146 single rooms in two blocks with en-suite facilities, reflecting the standards of accommodation expected by today's society. Each room has modern communications fittings and a co-ordinated design scheme. There are also separate utility rooms with laundry facilities. The accommodation blocks named Dreadnought and Repulse, and they were formally opened by Rear Admiral John Borley, Flag Officer Training and Recruiting, during his first visit to HMS Raleigh since taking up his appointment. HMS Raleigh now has four upgraded single accommodation blocks, two for officers and senior ratings.
