My friend Linda and I have just spent a few days in Ireland in the company of some very lovely people, namely Liskerret Male Voice Choir, their partners and friends. Their guest singers were the very talented ladies, Pastiche and accompanist Sarah Scott. Also another talented lady soloist Marlene Berry. The first concert was performed in Killarney's St Mary' Church. It was so good to see the church filled with such an appreciative audience. The final concert was held in Waterford Cathedral. Before this concert we had a very enjoyable meal in Dooley's Restaurant where all the ladies were presented with a memorable gift of our tour of Ireland. This was beautifully done by Adrian Wilton. Thanks Adrian it was a very touching moment. During our tour, we enjoyed a drive in a jaunting car (pony and trap) through a nature reserve. This was followed by a boat trip round the lakes of Killarney. We had beautiful views of the Macgillacuddy Reeks (mountains) and a trip of 112 miles round the Ring of Kerry with breathtaking scenery. We also paid a visit to Waterford Glass and the Blarney Woollen Mills. The ferry crossing on our way out was a bit like driving down Station Road in Liskeard as it is at the moment. On our return it was just the opposite. I'm sure there was a few passengers pleased about that. It was good to be home with memories of such a wonderful holiday. Thank you, Liskerret MVC, not forgetting our handsome and kindly steward Dickie Collins for keeping us supplied with the sweeties and our coach driver, Tony. Well done! When's the next one?
