A LOCAL woman has had her long blonde hair shaved off to support a number of charities.
It was the second time in the hairdresser's chair for Lou Thomas, whose hair had grown long again since her first grade one shave for charity five years ago.
Lou, a member and volunteer at Liskeard's Greenbank Community Church, explained that half of her hair will be donated to the Little Princess Trust, while the other half will be sold.
The proceeds will be put together with £419 raised so far through sponsorship, for Erin's Fund, Ellie's Haven, Tiwala (Philippines), Elizabeth House (disabled children in Uganda) and the Greenbank Youth Project.
The causes supported by Lou are both local and international organisations helping children, as she explained: 'All these children who lose their hair when they're having treatment – they're the brave ones. I have met little Erin (Lewsey) and she is like a ray of sunshine. It takes a lot of courage.'
'The street children who are helped by Tiwala, some of them are sleeping in graveyards.'
Lou continued: 'I'm not that great at running or jumping out of planes, but I don't mind having my hair cut.
'It's nothing, what I've done, in the scheme of things – but all kids should be looked after.'
'Thank you to Nicki of the Barber Shop in Liskeard who came up and did the haircut at such short notice,' she added.
