Look to your future, Liskeard

On reading through this lively and interesting paper, since moving to lovely Cornwall from my native Wales, I am surprised at the 'used to be' way of thinking, here in Liskeard.

Supermarkets: enough of them, two in town, one on outskirts. Hairdressing salons: again more than enough. Charity shops: a plethora But where is there a choice of shops to browse around? Where is there a decent shop that sells tableware, light furnishings, such as curtains, linen etc? Do not tell me Trago, a five mile journey.

Why is not Webbs being developed to a fuller extent - a cinema, maybe a small bowling alley? Youngsters do not have much for them in town. Lux Park Centre, super, but nearest cinema, such as it is, is in Looe or St Austell.

Maybe it is because my husband and I are formerly from the capital of Wales, but, dear Liskeard folk, things change; move on.

So, heads out of sand, look up and look forward into the 21st century, not back into the 19th, sweet as it WAS - the operative word.

We do love it here and want the best for our adopted home town of Liskeard and our 'Little Country' of Kernow.

P.S. We are not pensioners but running a small B and B - ambassadors, you may say, to the rest of the UK.
